Who: You! RSVP here
When: October 10 6pm - October 12 12pm, 2025
Where: A cute AirBnb in Pine Mountain Club, CA (about 2 hours North of LA)
What: A textile-based Shabbaton, where Torah study, storytelling, and crafting come together. In addition to packing what you will need for the weekend, please also bring:
1. One or two cool textiles you want to show-and-tell. These can be t-shirts with a story, the kippot you handed out at your bar mitzvah, or your favorite sport jersey (knowing this group, probably not). These do not have to be old or Jewish - just something you want to share!
2. One item of clothing that needs repair - those PJs that have a hole in the armpit, favorite jeans with a torn knee, or a kitchen cloth that still works but has frayed at the edge. We will work together to mend these using the traditional Japanese quilting technique called Sashiko.
3. Some clothes you don’t mind getting dirty!
Food: Click to see the menu, which is kosher and vegetarian. We will purchase and organize food, and ask each participant takes a kitchen shift to help prepare meals and clean up after. Please let us know if you have any additional food needs we can help accommodate.
Cost: None! You will be responsible for transportation (carpool info here), but all other costs are covered thanks to MemGlobal’s generous support. If you want to contribute please consider bringing a bottle of wine or some yummy fruit to share!
